OUR APPROACH
Food Sensitivity, Intolerance, Or Allergy: Why The Difference Matters
These terms are often used interchangeably, but they aren’t the same thing. True food allergies involve the immune system and can be serious, so diagnosing them is outside the scope of nutrition counseling and stays with an allergist. Sensitivities and intolerances, on the other hand, are exactly where a structured, dietitian-led elimination and reintroduction process can help you identify triggers like dairy, gluten, or high-FODMAP foods without unnecessarily restricting your diet long-term.

It varies by person, but a typical structured process takes several weeks to a couple of months, since foods need to be removed, then reintroduced one at a time to clearly identify triggers.
